The Safaribookers Team have worked together for over four years running the AOL Safari Channel and online directory of quality safari operators in Africa. In 2003 they started Safaribookers.com to deliver quality checked Safari Product to IATA Travel Agents for onward sale to their customers.
The logic of using the experience of the IATA Agency to service the customer 'in country' and have the experience of the Safaribookers Team service the customer 'in Africa' is both obvious and compelling to Agent and Customer, and reduces the risk of traveling to Africa.
Safaribookers tests all prospective IATA Agents on geography, basic wildlife knowledge and routing to key African airports. Once they have passed this test we provide all Safaribookers Agents with a monthly 'Zip' file of 'set-date' and 'any date' departure safaris in unbranded Word Documents. Our Safaribookers Agents can then overlay their branding and distribute these to prospective customers. When they have an enquiry at a provisional stage, normally having secured flights for the customer and taken a deposit, Safaribookers contracts with both the Agent and Supplier.
The principal advantage of IATA Agents contracting via Safaribookers is margin. Safaribookers has wholesale commission rates with all suppliers negotiated by our Product Managers in South Africa and Kenya. We add a small override, rarely over 5%, giving our Safaribookers Agents significantly larger margins than they would get contracting direct with our suppliers, and almost always more than outbound wholesalers in their country.
In addition, our Africa-based Product Managers are continually monitoring our suppliers and the safari lodges, hotels and ground operators for good performance ensuring that the Safaribookers offering to its Agents is always of the highest quality, regardless of customer budget.
At Safaribookers we leave our Agents to do what they know best; ticketing, customer service in their country and revenue management whilst we do what we know best; product selection, customer service in Africa and monitoring political and health issues that could affect the customer.
Safaribookers has one more compelling reason to IATA Agents to become Safaribookers Agents; our website drives our enquiries direct to selected Safaribookers Agents in the country or county of the customer. That's something you can't ignore!
